The Bungay Fire Brigade (Station 77) proudly serves the West Woodstock and Woodstock Valley sections of Woodstock, Connecticut, covering 31 of the town’s 61 square miles. Our members are committed to providing professional, reliable emergency services to the residents and visitors of our community. We work closely with our auto aid and mutual aid partners—the Muddy Brook Fire Department (Station 75) and the Woodstock Volunteer Fire Association (Station 76)—to ensure seamless, town-wide emergency coverage.
Bungay Fire Brigade responds to a multitude of emergencies including, but not limited to, structure fires, vehicle fires, brush and wildland fires, motor vehicle accidents, vehicle extrication, carbon monoxide incidents, fire alarms, hazardous materials (hazmat) situations, and search and rescue operations on both land and water. In addition to emergency response, we handle a wide range of service calls such as public assists, lift assists, welfare checks, standby coverage, and other non-emergency situations in which our community needs help.
Each year, Bungay Fire Brigade responds to approximately 350 calls for service, with a record-setting year of over 420 calls in 2024. Through our automatic aid agreements, we also respond alongside Station 75 and Station 76 for incidents involving carbon monoxide, fire alarms, motor vehicle accidents, vehicle extrication, brush fires, structure fires, vehicle fires, search and rescue, and hazardous materials. Although we operate as three separate departments, we function as one cohesive team—working seamlessly together to provide comprehensive emergency services across the entire 61 square miles of Woodstock.
We are also deeply committed to community engagement and public education. Our members participate in events such as the town Touch-a-Truck, Trunk or Treat, fire prevention programs, school visits, open houses, and other public relations activities that help strengthen our connection with the community we serve. We are dedicated to service, teamwork, and community, Bungay Fire Brigade stands ready to answer the call—whenever it comes.
